The most impressive feature of this camera is definitely its 50x optical zoom (35mm focal-length equivalent of 24-1200mm) Zeiss Vario Sonnar T* lens that lets you take awesome close photos that are far away.
Given the length of the lens, Sony has strategically customized the lens elements to reduce the camera shake effect to 4.5EV.

How the Sony HX400V compares with other cameras
The sensitivity of this camera ranges from ISO 80-3200 but is expandable to 12,800 which is relatively higher compared to other small-sensor cameras in its range.
Images taken with the fastest settings however suffer loss of fine details which makes these settings a bit irrelevant and can only use them when it’s totally necessary.
Its main rival is the Panasonic FZ72 which offers 60X optical zoom and allows you to shoot in RAW therefore delivering images with great color and detail.
The Sony Cybershot DSC-HX400V however comes with extra features such as the Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity prices together with a tilting and articulate screen.
Should you buy the Sony Cybershot HX400V or not?
Besides the 50X optical zoom, this is one of the best superzoom cameras that are light and easy to handle.
It is ideal for travel photography and has amazing connectivity that makes it easier to use. Though more highly priced than the Panasonic FZ72, it delivers on great image quality and excellent stabilization.
The only disappointment is that it retains its predecessor’s low resolution electronic viewfinder, lacks a touch screen and does not let you shoot in RAW but this would otherwise be the perfect super zoom camera in this range.

How the B500 compares with other cameras
When it comes to the power of the zoom, you can be tempted to spend a little more and enjoy more power and functionality with Nikon’s Coolpix B700 which has a 60x zoom with a 24-1440mm range or even Canon’s PowerShot SX540 which falls in the middle of the two with 50x zoom and a 24-1200mm range.
All these cameras, however, come with image stabilization hence making it easy to capture photos at slower shutter speeds. The B500 also produces smaller images compared with Canon SX540 yet there is little reduction in noise.
The B700 back LCD screen is also way better since it can be set at different angles since it is side-hinged making it easier for even self-shooting.
Whether to buy or not
Like always, the most important thing is to know which features are most important to you and if they have an impact on your photography.
But for anyone looking to enter this world of super-zoom photography, Nikon Coolpix B500 is a good recommendation with a nice grip, quick performance and intuitive controls.

How does the Sony Cybershot DSC-WX500 compare to other cameras?

It is significantly lighter than other superzoom cameras in this range for example, the Canon PowerShot SX710 HS and Nikon Coolpix S9900.
For a superzoom camera however, its small size compromises on handling because of its svelte design unlike all other superzoom cameras that are large and sturdy.
Should you buy the Sony Cybershot DSC-WX500
The Sony Cybershot DSC-WX500 comes with a few disappointments such as, it lacks an electronic viewfinder and does not shoot in RAW which is expected at this price point.
It delivers on great image quality though with no complaints whatsoever so it is definitely a must buy.
[wpsm_column size=”one-half”][wpsm_pros title=”PROS:”]

The Zoom Framing Assist feature allows users to zoom out to locate the subject and then it zooms back right in.
A new feature called the zoom framing assist lock keeps the subject centered while the lens is at full telephoto using the SX540’s powerful image stabilization system.
It adds a faster DIGIC 6 image processor and 1080/60p video capture capability.
How the Canon PowerShot SX540 HS compares with similar cameras
Compared to Sony H400, this camera can perform wonders under low light thanks to its high-sensitivity CMOS sensor.
The dedicated Wi-Fi button makes it one of the easiest and fastest DSLR cameras to transfer images via Wi-Fi and NFC. It also has a dedicated movie button, making it easy to point and shoot videos in MP4 format with stereo sound.
This is impressive compared to other cameras such as Sony H400/B that can only record 720p videos with only mono audio recording.
Even without the use of any special software, the SX540 is able to select and compile images automatically with its Story Highlights feature.
The 461,000 rear LCD screen resolution performs poorly compared to the ones on Nikon B500 or Nikon’s B700 which are almost double the pixels, however, the LCD is still better than Sony’s H400/B.
Whether to buy Canon SX540 or not
Canon Powershot SX540 HS is a great camera especially considering its relatively low price. It makes it easy for both professional photographers and beginners to manage as well as capture quality still images as well as videos.

It shoots 1920 x 1080p videos at 50fps, way better than the Sony H400/B. It features both Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity for wireless image transfer and sharing between the camera and any smart device. Lastly, it also features GPS functionality so images can be tagged to the location they were taken.
How Sony DSC-HX60V compares with similar devices
The 30x optical zoom is a bit low compared to other super zoom cameras in the same category such as Canons SX60’s 65x zoom.
When it comes to image sharpness, this camera is awesome thanks to the dual technologies of Sony’s Clear Image Zoom and Steadyshot which ensure the image sharpness and stability even at long zoom ranges.
The 20.4MP Exmor CMOS sensor is the same as the one found in its predecessor, the HX50, but this is not a bad thing at all since even then, it could produce some pretty good results.
Video capturing is enhanced in this camera thanks to its in-built five-axis image stabilization technology. If you want to save yourself some 20 pounds, you could buy the HX60 which contains all the features apart from GPS capability.
The rear LCD screen on this camera is more amazing even more than that of Canon’s SX540 and makes viewing as well as taking pictures pleasing and easy.
The HS60V is also a bit faster than the H400/B and P900 when comparing the delay between pressing the shutter release button and capturing the image.
Combined with great focusing and stabilizing system, it is one of the fastest point and shoot cameras in the market.
Whether to buy the HX60V or not
There is a lot to appreciate about the overall performance of Sony’s HX60V. The Optical SteadyShot feature comes in handy especially at longer focal lengths, performing better than that of Sony H400/B and but still not close to Sony’s Cybershot DSC-HX350 which can stabilize even videos.
Though not touch-enabled, the menu system in this camera is impressive with lots of options that is hard to find on such types of cameras.
However, this can end up giving beginners a hard time. For its low price, the HX60V can prove to be an awesome choice for a compact, long-range shooting camera.
[wpsm_column size=”one-half”][wpsm_pros title=”PROS:”]- Full Manual control options like DSLR.

- WIFI and NFC.
- Built in GPS.

10. Best Camera Under 30000: – Nikon Coolpix P900
If you were thinking the limit for optical zoom range cannot go any higher than Canon’s 65x SX60, then think again because Nikon has rewritten the bridge-camera rulebook with the Coolpix P900 which boasts of an 83x lens.
This automatically makes it one of the best DSLR bridge cameras under 30000 rupees that money can buy.
Specs and features
Though shaped like an SLR, it comes with a small 1/2.3in image sensor commonly found in cheap compact cameras or modern smartphones.
The lens can capture sharp, 16MP images and 1080p video even with the huge zoom range, one of the features that stand out about the P900.
On the rear, you will find the articulated screen very useful.
How the P900 compares with similar cameras
However, to have the longest-zoom for a bridge camera, something had to give for the Nikon Coolpix P900.
First of all, the massive lens makes this camera larger and heavier, as a matter of fact, it is 60% heavier than Nikon’s P610.
They, however, share some similar features such as NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity as well as an articulating screen.
The quality of images produced by the P900 and Nikon 610 is also quite similar, which makes it hard to justify the P900’s price which is 80% more than the P610.
In the same light, the Nikon Coolpix B500 can also take decent photos with its 40x zoom at only half the price. Furthermore, the Panasonic DC-FZ80 comes with a pretty amazing 60x zoom and costs £120 less.
Should you buy Nikon P900 or not?
Announced back in 2015, Nikon P900 remains the record holder of the world’s biggest zoom on a consumer camera, a feat hard to ignore.
Enthusiasts will be happy to know that this awesome zoom can shoot anything from wide angle vistas to clear pictures of the moon that fill the whole frame.
The 83x zoom is equivalent to 24-2,000mm on a full-frame camera, which makes it quite impressive. However, the price is a little too high unless you really need such kinds of zoom.
[wpsm_column size=”one-half”][wpsm_pros title=”PROS:”]- 83x Optical Zoom.
- Articulated LCD screen.
- Excellent zoom for wildlife photography.
- 1080 at 60fps.
- WIFI and NFC.
- Macro mode for closeups.
- Slightly heavy for a point and shoot.
- Can’t shoot in RAW.
11. Best Camera Under 30000: – Sony Cybershot DSC-HX350
The Sony Cybershot DSC-HX350 is described as a compact, long zoom-camera fitted with a Zeiss T 24-1200mm lens. It comes with an in-built 20.4MP BSI-CMOS sensor from Sony with optical image stabilization even when taking videos, thanks to its hybrid ‘Intelligent Active’ mode.
It has an ISO range of 80-3200 which is expandable up to 128000 when using the multi-frame NR mode. Its 24-1200mm (35mm equivalent) lens with an aperture range of f/2.8-6.3 enables the camera to achieve 50x optical zoom.
How the HX-350 compares with other cameras
Sony Cybershot DSC-HX350 has the ability of burst shooting at10fps and records 1080p videos at 60fps, double that of Nikon’s Coolpix B500.
It comes with a nice 921,000pixel rear LCD screen that can tilt, however, unlike Nikon Coolpix B500, it does not feature any Wi-Fi or NFC connections.
As a result, you will have to use a USB 2.0 cable to transfer content to a computer or a Micro-HDMI port for accessing the content directly on HDTV.
Also, it does not have any headphone or microphone sockets. The impressive 50x zoom is the same one fitted in its predecessor, the HX300 together with the Optical SteadyShot anti-shake technology.
It also features an electronic viewfinder that comes in really handy.
Whether to buy or not
The HX350 is pretty similar to the HX300, the biggest difference is the upgrade from 720p to 1080p full HD video capability.
Shooting 4K movies would have been nice, but that is a feature saved for more expensive cameras. But the HX350 is highly recommended for anyone looking for a compact yet powerful bridge camera below 30000 rupees.
[wpsm_column size=”one-half”][wpsm_pros title=”PROS:”]- 50x Optical Zoom.
- 20.4 MP BIONZ X sensor.
- ISO 80-3200, can be extended to 12800.
- 10 FPS continuous shooting.
- 1080 at 60fps.
- No WIFI and GPS.
12. Best Camera Under 30000: – Canon PowerShot SX60-HS
Canon’s SX60 is a powerful bridge camera that is fitted with a similar 1/2.3-inch sensor as Nikon P900. This enables it to accommodate its huge 65x optical zoom range.
It is one of the best bridge cameras under 30000 rupees that you can seriously consider to buy.
Features and specifications
The 65x zoom range on Canon SX60-HS is equivalent to a 21-1365mm lens with f/3.4-6.5. It has a 3-inch articulating screen on the rear with 922,000 dots as well as a good quality electronic viewfinder.
You can shoot in raw and connect to different devices or the internet thanks to the in-built capability for Wi-Fi and NFC connection.
Users will also appreciate its 6.4ps maximum continuous shooting range and its 1080p video shooting capabilities.
How the SX60-HS compares with other cameras
The image quality produced by SX60 is great with bright colors, however, when in dark conditions, it is not the best in the market since when looking at images at 100%, you will see some noise and speckling.
In this regard, Canon SX60 HS performs below par compared to the Panasonic DC-FZ80 which comes with the same zoom range. In addition, the lack of touch-screen control capability is a downer in this age, but if you like a full manual control camera, then this is the one for you.
Lastly, there is no eye sensor on the viewfinder, making it impossible to point and shoot without having to first activate it manually.
Whether to buy the Canon SX60 HS or not
Canon Powershot SX60-HS is a decent camera that is better priced compared to Nikon’s P900. If you are a beginner or just an enthusiast, it will not let your expectations down and can make for the perfect entry DSLR camera in the market.
[wpsm_column size=”one-half”][wpsm_pros title=”PROS:”]- 65x optical zoom.
- 16.1 MP image sensor.
- 1080p/60p Video.
- WIFI and NFC.
- Optical distortion at more than 60x zoom.
- No GPS.
13. Best Camera Under 30000:- Sony H400/B
The H400/B from Sony is powered by a powerful 63x optical zoom, 1/2.3- inch Super HAD CCD sensor enabling it to shoot crisp images at 20.1 megapixels.
It comes as one of the best DSLR bridge cameras under 30000 rupees with what Sony describes as a “super zoom focal length reach.”
Features and specs
For image processing, the Sony H400/B is fitted with the highly acclaimed BIONZ R image processing engine. Coupled with the 20.1MP sensor, the H400/B can produce high quality images of up to 5125 by 3864 pixels.
The Carl-Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens fitted in this camera is impressive and can compare with a 24.5-1550mm focal length lens in 35mm format.
The maximum lens aperture ranges between f/3.4-6.5. When it comes to shooting videos, the DSC-H400/B is not the best in the league since it can only capture 720p videos with a frame rate of 3fps.
The only upside is that you can record up to 29 minutes of video. It is also fitted with a 3in rear LCD with a resolution of 460,000 pixels.
How the H400/B compares with other cameras
The H400/B’s real forte is shooting still images, compared to similar DSLRs such as Nikon B500, Canon SX60 or the P900, it cannot keep up when it comes to shooting videos due to its lower quality 720p videos at 3fps.
This is a joke compared to a camera like Canon SX540 HS which can shoot 1080p videos at 60fps. However, when it comes to still photography, the Sony H400/B is up to par with its mates.
The image stabilization in this camera works better than that of the HS60 when fully zoomed in, however, the performance is still poor compared to more expensive, full DSLR cameras.
You will also notice the low resolution of the rear LCD screen which is almost half compared to Canon SX60-HS 922.000 dots.
The other con about the H400 compared to similar cameras is its poor burst rate or continuo us shooting speed of 0.71. However, you can capture up to 100 frames at a time, way higher compared to most bridge DSLRs.
